Web 2.0 signals the convergence of all digital data processing devices. It means that all information processing and storage devices would have connevtivity to the Internet allowing users to seamlessly transfer and process data. It envisages connectivity to the point that household appliances and cars too will be connected to the Internet allowing owners to control them from anywhere. Imagine sitting in office and instructing your DVD REcorder to record your favorite show on National Geographic beacause you cannot make it home on time! The State Library can implement a new portal allowing users to video conference with librarians without having to visit the library and obtain the information they need.

This programme has been an excellent experience. It included many new features that I did not even know existed. It has broadened my perspectives about the usefulness of the Internet to serve the new generation and meet their needs when I am on the reference service desk. Although, I would like to add that this has not been the best way of achieving the outcomes because I did not have sufficient time to devote exclusively to each lesson. Also the lack of fixed classroom interaction with a tutor made it very difficult at times to accomplish even simple operations. On several Thursdays I had desk shifts and was unable to interact with Lynette. I rushed through the exercises due to other heavy work committments. It would be great if some real life objectives had been incorporated into this learning programme.

Explored www.podcast.net. I tried listening to podcasts on the link http://www.podcast.net/show/35155 but since Quicktime Player is not installed I was unable to do so.

Explored YouTube. Due to a slow internet connection the videos were slow to load and jerky.

Tried embedding an Australian Idol video using "edit html" in blogger. Not sure it works though.

Explored Flickr mashups concept and understood the purpose. Did not find it applicable for library work. The Mappr project is good linking places on the map to actual photographs of those places from Flickr

I throughly enjoyed this exercise It was difficult getting away from it. I loved the cats and I was thinking about home with my beautiful Lord Nelson. The one on the left is my cat - Lord Nelson
This was the first time I really felt I had achieved something.

It was slightly difficult to find the articles I wanted. Inter-library loans policy. Could not find it.
I found feedster very easy to use. The topics I looked were elction 2007 and John Howard election.
I found topix.net confusing and not as easy as Feedster. I would have to say that Feedster was easier than the other. I would like to try using Ebsco host

I have discoved many varied things I can do and learn about wikis
It is a very useful tool for us as a team to participate in. We can inform each other of anything that is interesting and useful for us regarding news about activites happening in the library world
I have managed to do #5 playing around with PBwiki or Zoho wiki. I was unable to login on
Zoho wiki and I was informed that I had to be invited to participate in Zoho
